Spring Newsletter
Hello Everybody!
Hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! As 2021 begins I wanted to reach out to you all with a heartfelt thanks and our latest news. We are looking forward to a great new year and hope you are too.
But first…
BIG CONGRATS TO OUR TWO LUCKY DINNER ON THE DOGS OPPORTUNITY DRAWING WINNERS!
Congratulations to Cassie Coker, our first prize drawing winner, she won $460.00 worth of gift certificates from some of our most popular local restaurants! And Terry Lundy, our second place winner walked away with $200.00 in restaurant gift certificates as well! Enjoy ladies! And to all of you who participated a huge heartfelt thanks to you all! I was completely overwhelmed with the response from the community we received. Bakersfield truly is a wonderful place to live! For those of you who didn’t catch the drawing you can click here https://www.facebook.com/forgetmenotrescueofkern to watch on our FB page, scroll down to December 20th to watch a live video of yours truly fumble through her first live FB video alongside our very own Sandy Morris from Christmas For Seniors. It really was fun and now that I have the hang of it will be excited to do our next live video 😊
Going forward…
WEBSITE UPDATES AND NEW ADDITIONS
Susan Madigan
Exciting update with Forget Me Not Rescue of Kern…We are still putting the finishing touches on our website but are so excited to have Susan Madigan onboard as our acting secretary. Susan has an extensive background in animal rescue and has served on many local animal related boards here in Kern County. She is an amazing resource for all things rescue and a neat human being as well. We are so blessed she has decided to join us! You can learn more about Susan on our website by clicking here. As we are still working on our website please check back often and bookmark us to follow us as we get closer and closer to our launch date.
FACEBOOK AND WHATNOT
As Covid comes to a close and it is safe to be around our seniors again, hopefully this spring or early summer, we will be starting meet and greets between the seniors and our dogs and cats. We will be posting fun meet and greet videos and updates on our Facebook page, let me invite you to like and follow us there if you havent already so you can snag a front row seat.
You can find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/forgetmenotrescueofkern
We also have both Twitter and Instagram accounts and are presently learning how to use them. Ha! Yes, my age is showing. But please follow us on both on those pages if you are a Twitterer (is that a word?) or Instagram fan. With any luck those pages will start to see some activity as well.
WANT TO VOLUNTEER?
As we are tying up the loose ends and have our toe on the start line we will be planning our future events and fundraisers. We are still looking for volunteers to help in lots of different capacities. We will be needing hands-on folks to help out with our meet and greets at the senior facilities once that starts as well as folks that can help us with our social media, obviously, lol. Of course fosters are ALWAYS welcome and as we start to see better weather and (hopefully) are able to have public events again like Bakersfield Pawsitive Connections popular event “Strutt With A Mutt”, we will need more hands on deck to help man our vending booth where we will be selling items to raise funds for our program. Lots of room for everyone that wants to jump onboard with us. We would love to have you!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Once again…We just cant thank those of you that bought our drawing tickets enough! Because of all of you our Dinner On The Dogs opportunity drawing was a huge success and we ended up with a little over 2600.00! I am still reeling from everyone’s generosity. Please accept our huge heartfelt thanks to you all! You guys really stepped up and answered the call like nobody’s business. Bakersfield ROCKS!
So until we chat again, see you on Facebook and (hopefully) Twitter and Instagram soon!
Sincerely and cyber hugs to you all!
