If you are in the county and considering rehoming your pet due to financial hardship please click the “What We Do” link on https://www.kerncountyanimalservices.org. They offer a lot of low cost and no cost programs that may allow you to keep your pet. From low cost vaccinations clinics and spay or neuter programs to their Pet Food Safety Net program that offers free dog and cat food. They have worked very hard to become a No-Kill shelter and are an asset to our community.

If you live in the city and are considering rehoming your pet due to financial hardship the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center offers low cost vaccination clinics monthly and city residents can request a 40.00 spay or neuter voucher to be used at Critters Without Litters, Bakersfield’s only non-profit spay and neuter clinic.

Kern Humane Society offers free spay and neuter vouchers for 20.00 off for low income residents in either the city or the county. These vouchers can be used at the veterinary hospital of your choice. You can pick them up in the Kern Humane Society Thrift Store.
